Oppo’s India-only sub-brand is shamelessly going after Xiaomi’s Redmi line

Oppo’s newest entry-level phone isn’t even technically from Oppo but from a new budget brand called Realme, and is being dubbed the Realme 1.

Oppo is taking advantage of selling design-focused, entry-level smartphones online in India while simultaneously mirroring efforts from another Chinese competitor, Xiaomi. Look up Xiaomi’s budget brand Redmi and it’s clear to see that Oppo had some inspiration, starting with the sales model.

The Realme 1 itself is the typical budget Android phone. A 6-inch 2160 x 1080p display, running with 3GB RAM, 32GB of storage, an octa-core Helio P60 chipset (four 2.0GHz Cortex A73 cores alongside four other Cortex A53 cores), and finally 13 and 8 megapixel cameras, back and front respectively.
